The Story
Challenge, solution, result.
Challenge
The original kitchen was a cramped galley separated from the dining and living areas by a load-bearing wall. The family cooked, ate, and entertained in three disconnected spaces, and the 1960s cabinetry was at end of life.
Solution
HomeNest engineered a structural beam to remove the load-bearing wall and open the kitchen to the adjoining rooms. Jeff's design placed a large island at the new hinge point of the space, with custom painted cabinetry that matches the home's era and quartz counters sized for the new footprint. Plumbing and electrical were rerouted to support the layout, and a new panel handled the expanded load.
Result
The kitchen now anchors an open main floor with clear sightlines from sink to living room. The family uses the island daily for homework, meals, and prep. The project came in on schedule at 10 weeks on-site and is backed by our 5-Year Workmanship Warranty.
